چکیده

Introduction Inherited deficiencies of complement components can result in autoimmunity. Early age of onset, prominent cutaneous manifestations, and presence of anti-Ro antibodies are features suggestive of a complement deficiency. SLE-associated deficiencies in subcomponents of the C1 complex, C1r and/or C1s, were described 4 decades ago, however the molecular basis and functional aspects of the complement deficiency have not been clearly determined.

Minor role of BRCA2 mutation (Exon2 and Exon11) in patients with early-onset breast cancer amongst Iranian Azeri-Turkish women

Objective(s): Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Every year, one million new cases are reported worldwide, representing 18% of the total number of cancer in women. Hereditary BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations account for about 60% of inherited breast cancer and are the only known causes of hereditary breast cancer syndrome. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of BRCA2 (e...

A novel human complement-related protein, C1r-like protease (C1r-LP), specifically cleaves pro-C1s.

The availability of the human genome sequence allowed us to identify a human complement-related, C1r-like protease gene (c1r-LP) located 2 kb centromeric of the C1r gene (c1r). Compared with c1r, c1r-LP carries a large deletion corresponding to exons 4-8 of c1r. The open reading frame of the C1r-LP cDNA predicts a 50 kDa modular protein displaying 52% amino acid residue identity with the corres...

Expression of recombinant human complement C1q allows identification of the C1r/C1s-binding sites.

Complement C1q is a hexameric molecule assembled from 18 polypeptide chains of three different types encoded by three genes. This versatile recognition protein senses a wide variety of immune and nonimmune ligands, including pathogens and altered self components, and triggers the classical complement pathway through activation of its associated proteases C1r and C1s. We report a method for expr...

BackgroundCongenital generalized lipodystrophy (CGL) is a rare disease. It is associated with near total fat loss, severe insulin resistance and hypoleptinemia leading to metabolic derangements.Case PresentationWe report a 25- year- old female with 1-Acylglycerol-3-phosphate-O-acyltransferase 2 (APGAT2) mutation, and both sclerotic and lytic bone lesions together for the first time. Bone cyst i...
